Rock Star: Supernova is the most wonderfully sincere show on television, and I love it! [1]

Consider: People in the crowd singing along to a cover of the Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris"; Jason Newsted and Tommy Lee bobbing their heads to Coldplay's "Yellow"; a contestant saying, "it's not about image, it's about the music," followed by 30 seconds of moody shots of said contestant staring off into the distance, looking pained in a very abstract & vague way. It's brilliant!

[1] Thanks to Krissy for reminding me about the premiere tonight. I had watched Rock Star: INXS somewhat sporadically, but this is already shaping up to be even more amazingly ridiculous.

I'm unsure whether I'll follow this one. I liked Rockstar: INXS, but could never get over the unease that came with the knowledge that INXS was over by 1992 or so, but they hadn't figured it out. Everytime some young person went on and on about how much they loved the band, I cringed. It was so forced.
I have little idea what Supernova is supposed to be as a band. I have seen Tommy on talk shows, and I can say that he can't sing, so he definitely needs a vocalist.
I did watch a little tonight. One disturbing trend: in season 1, Dave Navarro was often drooling over Brooke, while now it seems that both he and Tommy will be doing that. I would like to pine for Brooke in my chair without interference from handsome t.v guys, thank you.

yeah. it's essentially my favorite show right now. Aging rockers are like a car accident - somewhat shocking and possibly repulsive, yet you can't look away.
