This video makes me laugh every time I see it, because I love watching serious workaholic James just trying to play his guitar, while Nicky and Richey try to drape a feather boa over his head, have a massage, and share some sort of pastry (or something).

Revolution

The other night at the Dirty Projectors show at the Independent [1], Angel & Dave walked out to play the first song, "Two Doves", and I noticed that Angel was wearing a Spacemen 3 t-shirt, and even though I'd been already looking forward to this concert as the best concert ever, I knew, then, that it really would be.

Here's Spacemen 3's nonsensically awesome "Revolution".

Last night, Dirty Projectors at The Independent; this was my first time seeing them live, and they absolutely killed.

Scope

Matt Webb's keynote at reboot11 is pretty great and inspiring and full of interesting things. One of those interesting things is this mention of a South Indian martial art called Kalarippayattu:

There's this idea in Kalarippayattu that you reach with your body an optimal state of awareness and readiness [p19], where you're instinctively and intuitively ready for anything, and it's as if, and I quote, "the body becomes all eyes."

Which reminds me of Roald Dahl's The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More, which I hadn't thought about in years, but which I now really want to read again.

Chipotle Pork Cheeseburger

This--a chipotle pork cheeseburger--is what I'm going to eat tonight. We have leftover chipotles in adobo, and I bought some ground pork at the farmers market, and I made some mayonnaise, &c. I'm excited about this [1].

Thursday night in New York was hot--after weeks of rain, it was one of the first real summer nights of the year. Car windows were open all over the city, and just about every station on the radio dial had switched to an all-Michael Jackson format; for the first (and, for all we know, the last) time, it felt as if absolutely everyone was listening to the same songs.
