The Big Picture has photos of the wildfires in Southern California. I like this shot for the scale, but many of the others, like this one of two teenagers on a rooftop looking up at the fires, show the impact.

I talked with someone in LA yesterday who lives reasonably near the fires, and she reported that she came out of her house yesterday to find her car covered in ash, and that the air was just thick with the stuff. Not good.

We were in Southern California last November when there were a bunch of fires in Anaheim, and the ash was blowing down into Disneyland. Unpleasant.
