This is the "banh mi du maison" from Ma Peche ("Momofuku Midtown") in New York. I want it.
In local news, I had a banh mi last week from a spot called Grab 'n Go. It was pork + chiles + cilantro + pickled carrots + bread, and it was cheap and tasty. Not the greatest banh mi in the world, probably, but very delicious & filling for $4. I'll go again.
The sleeper on the menu is the sausage. I think Mr. Kottke and I had it when we went to Ssam the 2nd night they were open, so it's probably been, I dunno... four years or so since I had it? But holy shit is the sausage good. No disrespect to Tien, but there are better Banh Mi in town -- so that means there's enough room for the grilled cheese.
Going to Ma Peche and then diving into the Momofuku book = good week.
